Endodontics is a wide range of treatments focusing on saving the soft tissue inside your teeth.

It involves procedures relating to the interior of your tooth – the dental pulp – where the blood vessels and nerve endings of your teeth can be found.

Why would I need endodontic treatment?

When there has been a traumatic injury or a large cavity in your tooth, it can be easy for bacteria to reach the centre of it. Infection can cause you a severe toothache, and you may require a root canal treatment – a common endodontic treatment.

What are the symptoms of dental pulp infection?

These are some of the common issues caused by an infected pulp:

• Severe toothache
• Sensitivity to hot/cold foods and drinks
• Swelling

Is the infection of dental pulp dangerous?

Failing to treat infections can lead to severe damage to your gums and jaw and even result in tooth loss. If you experience any of the symptoms listed above, you should seek immediate dental advice to prevent the infection from spreading.

Are endodontic treatments painful?

We will administer local anaesthetics to keep you as comfortable as possible. The mild discomfort you may experience after your treatment can be managed with over-the-counter painkillers.
